30/70 collective: fluid motion
The 30/70 Collective members, constantly broadcasting their sound through individual and collaborative projects, have been main players in Australia’s newest wave of soul-influenced brilliance. Since Cold Radish Coma, from 2015, the band expanded towards the other side of the globe, releasing the acclaimed Elevate project in 2017 on London-based Rhythm Section International. Fluid Motion - also released with the prestigious Rhythm Section stamp on it - is their third album and might be their most accomplished too, result of the constant exploration of its members within their influences - effortlessly shifting between neo-soul and languid, Dilla-esque tendencies, astral-facing jazz textures and authentic vignettes of UK club music history.
Connecting Melbourne to London, two of the most culturally exciting cities in the world right now, 30/70 Collective’s Fluid Motion takes inspiration from the syncopation of broken-beat, the immediacy of grime’s and dub’s sonic aesthetic deepening their appreciation for the UK underground music and creating something that is a truly global amalgamation of local sounds. No longer a local phenomenon, the 30/70 Collective are set to soar into even higher territory. Released last weekend, Fluid Motion is available in vinyl and other formats.
