The South London soulful voice of Andrew Ashong, here returning his first full release since 2014, is joned by Kaidi Tatham, the great unrivalled underground virtuoso described as the UK’s Herbie Hancock. Sankofa Season takes both artists to new heights as they seamlessly complement each other’s musical language. In six tracks, Ashong and Tatham criss-cross jazzy broken beats, neo soul and funky moments, crossing as well time, moving into their own distinct lane. Once again Tatham’s instrumentation is fantastic, not failing to suprises in groove. And he is the right partner for Ashong’s incredible and trademark vocals, long due in our speakers.
