Connection with Melbourne to introduce one of the acts making waves in the city. Close Counters (composed by Finn Rees and Allan McConnell) prepare to fully release a new EP entitled FLUX, in which they keep showcasing total virtuosity in the crossroads of house, neo-soul, hip hop and disco sounds. Following a couple of EP’s and their debut LP SOULACOASTA, released back in 2018, they’ve been pairing up with Wax Museum Records. Last year they dropped the mesmerizing REFRACTIONS EP, and now they hit home run with FLUX, featuring collabs with Allysha Joy and JAYDEAN.

Conceived originally in a Coburg studio, close to Melbourne, the project was moved to online spaces due to a government enforced 112 day lockdown in the state of Victoria. Streamed sessions with the likes of Allysha Joy (30/70), Paul Bender (Hiatus Kaiyote), JAYDEAN and a host of friends along the way, resulted in the duo’s most well rounded piece of artistry. FLUX EP contains a sense of community between its creators and collaborators, overcoming the obstacles imposed by the pandemic. The ‘illegal’ levels of groove and the diversity of approaches in Close Counters’ work make this project one of the best things coming out from Australia in 2021. While the country gets back to its energetic gig culture, Close Counters are ready to resume their deserved explosion onto Melbourne’s live electronic scene. FLUX EP drops on friday and will be available on vinyl, for collectors across the world.
