Paulo and Sano, two Colombian salsapunk-expats formed the act Contento in the mid 2010’s. Their first album, Lo Bueno Está Aquí was released last year (although created over three years), being met with artistic and critical success. Their follow-up, En Lancha Pal Futuro, builds seamlessly on its predecessor, blending salsa with electronic elements, afrobeat and lo-fi vocals. The Colombians vibe is again filled with positivity, finding new crossways between classic genres.

Created in COVID circumstances, with Sano leaving Barcelona and returning to Colombia, the duo collaborated through distance, connecting classic Latin American textures with an array of other influences and an electronic twist. The intense work of production of Paulo, adding lyrics and further instrumentation, recuperating unfinished material they had begun years prior, ended up being essential to finish En Lancha Pal Futuro. Alone in the studio with cross-Atlantic elements to compose, Paulo artfully invokes the presence of his absent partner to summon up the spirit of Contento and the spirit of Colombia. Despite the extraordinary circumstances, En Lancha Pal Futuro is a remarkable follow-up to Contento’s first record.
