diego hedez: distante
Sonically based in the connection of the musical expressions from the Caribbean and Latin America, and dedicated to the creators of the Latin jazz, Diego Hedez and his quintet leads us through a magnificent seven track ride. Via Common Good Records, Hedez’s debut Distante, transports the sound of Cuban streets, conserving a very strong sense of authenticity and belonging. Composed by Diego and arranged by Marion Castro, the album has great personal value for the composer - expressing his appreciation and affection for all of those who inspired him. All the originals tracks were based on and inspired by his love life, and by getting to know his own culture while traveling through Cuba.
Born in the year 2000, Hedez is a prodigy young artist, which entire life pointed to this exact moment. After attending Cuba’s selective National School of Art, where he delved into Cuban music, jazz and be bop, the connections started to multiply and crossing borders. From the interaction with professors, colleagues, bandmates, to some of the best live music bars in Havana, Hedez trajectory is notable. Distante is his first step into global stages, presenting mesmerizing musics that were recorded live. The intention was to give a feeling of greater confidence among the musicians, thus achieving a great compatibility between them, reaching a natural sound. That is achieved with ease and the quintet showcases a strong connection, interweaving themes and creating musically dense events, filled by the sounds of their culture and Latin rhythms. Distante is an exciting new abum from an exciting new artist. Available via Bandcamp, don’t sleep on this one. Courtesy of Common Good.
