emile londonien: jazz contenders
Since 2021 that we’ve had the pleasure of covering the trajectory of one of France’s most interesting acts in the waves of contemporary jazz. Emile Londonien, a trio composed by Matthieu Drago (drums), Nils Boyny (Synth) and Théo Tritsch (bass), has introduced us to a couple of works of extreme musical quality and now they deliver a new project entitled Jazz Contenders - a sonic tribute to their hometown of Strasbourg, a city that has showcased a number of different jazz-electronic projects in the past few years.
Building upon their previous releases, the Emile Londonien trio improves their approach to sound, delivering what can be considered their most solid work to date. Jazz Contenders hides surprises at every corner you take, introducing different elements with fluidity. From the emotional melodies of “Missing Arrow” (an absolute killer) to the night movements provoked by “Contenders”, passing vy the bubbly bass-induced trip in “Skylight”, this record is a delight for the contemporary jazz aficionados. Available on all streaming platforms via Omezis.
