Flat White Chris is making us raise the volume with his new EP, I.S.K., released on his own label, Flat White Records (previously having released some of our favorite underground up and coming artist like Jean Jez, Meowsn’ or established producers such as Felipe Gordon, Scruscru or Last Nubian). This three-track collection showcases his production prowess and highlights a collaborative effort with UK rapper TRIM (formerly a member of the influential grime collective, Roll Deep).
The EP features a pair of synth-heavy deep house tracks, “I.S.K.” and “ME&U”, building up with the help of driving basslines and shuffling percussion. Sandwiched between these two, “Leicester88” is an electro wonder, and serves as a dynamic center for the record. I.S.K. creates a deep and hypnotic atmosphere that draw us in from the very start, marking an exciting new approach for Chris Thorpe and his amazing label. Available on Bandcamp.
