george john: oiaio ep
Hailing from Schweinfurt, Germany, George John’s music came to our attention when we listened to his magnificent “Hope (Solo)” track, included in Blaq Numbers’ Space Invaders compilation. We dug deeper, to vibe with some funky-jazz-electronic projects released by himself and via Berlin-based Get Together. And now it’s time to shine the light over him and his groovy return to Blaq Numbers - OIAIO EP, drops tomorrow. Loaded with spacey glitch house vibes, this new five tracker reminds us of the summer scents and the unattainable expectations of a night that is about to start.
A keyboard and synth aficionado, George John works the Juno 60 to the limit, developing further a sound that is becoming clearly his. OIAIO starts with three funky original productions, perfect to set the night mode in our heads, as we’re sipping an imaginary cocktail in our imaginary paradise. Two remixes complete the package: Munich's finest Rhode & Brown have their eyes squarely set on peak time and Donald Dust’s version smells like Tom Selleck after his daily sunbathe. Dropping with an eco-friendly vinyl edition, OIAIO is set to bounce up our forthcoming days and nights. Yes yes.
