jay sound: heat
If you know Jay Sound’s output then you’re probably really deep into what’s good and original in the house/hi tek/electronic funk scene from the U.S. (if you don’t, this link is highly recommended). Just a few months ago he released one of our favorite albums of all time, which is a status that is kind of hard for us to give - Horizon blended aerial textures of ambient sounds, with Jay’s incursions into electronic jazz, deep house music, broken beat and funk - and now he presents another golden record entitled HEAT. Influenced by the imagery of 80’s and 90’s noire movies and by the sounds echoing through summer nights, Jay Sound fills this project with loads of riffs of sharp, bright Leads, Lush DX EPS chords, heavy Detroit bass lines, versatile rhythms & palettes on top of his signature polyrhythms. Following more introspective works, HEAT is Jay’s continuous affirmation as one of the most talented producers in the game. As he puts it “is time to slap MFs awake” for his art. For the unique expression of an unique vision.
Referring to HEAT as “by far his favorite work to date”, Jay Sound aims for the summer, creating a soundtrack that creates a very strong cinematic scenery. Some tracks reminisce on sunset drives, some on sunrise drives & others on the night life - every one of them coming with out-of-the-scale producing techniques that, together with a very clear vision for the sonic textures, make Jay Sound music a true diamond in today’s landscape. HEAT is drenched with head bangers and body sweaters, filled with emotion that will carry from the nostalgic & back to the modern without skipping a beat. Rather it's Detroit's "Woodward Phunk" which Jay calls upon the genre "D Funk" that combines Detroit house & funk, or it's "Keys 2 The City" that will put you in the mind of New Jack City vibes of the NYC 90s or maybe it's Jays "Dreamer" which is a Lush smooth ride of RollerSkate bliss of the late 90s R&B & Jazz Fusion. Available digitally, turn on the engine and put play on this one. Jay Sound will give it to you. And if you don’t know, now you know.
