jeff the fool: beat tape 2: soul food

See this content in the original post

It doesn’t take much to create groovy music. Jeff The Fool orchestrates an MPC-2500 drum machine with a few favorite loops from well chosen samples, and delivers Beat Tape 2: Soul Food, via GLBDOM. The french producer is inspired by the passion for the craft of giants like Madlib and Pete Rock, introducing a high-karat selection of instrumental hip hop sketches - the first release of the genre from this up and coming Russian label.

You are greeted by a hedonistic, highbred funkystyle straight from Jeff The Fool’s soul. A bright symbolic tie with the voice of the godfather of soul, James Brown, gives a solid start and flies into the ears with packs of brass. The mesmerizing use of vinyl samples is amplified with strings of synthesizers, basses, scratches and a slight hint of battle escapism. The vintage sound of the tape and the sprawling jazzy beats lead the entire instrumental system, emulating the golden era of those early classics honored here. The sound, full of colorful textures, contains references to the ‘90s, while maintaining elements of innovation with occasional ambient-driven interludes. Available on cassette and digital formats.
