jimpster: tribute ep
Freerange Records have announced the latest release from label-head Jimpster, showcasing his ability to fuse deep, afro and soulful house across the two original tracks, with each offering something different yet equally captivating. Tribute EP features South African vocalist Mavhungu and two remixes from the one and only Osunlade.
The lead track, “Tribute”, draws inspiration from Jimpster's trips to South Africa, featuring Mavhungu's beautiful vocal in her native language Venda. The organic and electronic sounds blend together seamlessly with contemporary sonic textures, classic Rhodes pads and analogue synth lines. The Yoruba Soul maestro, Osunlade, steps up for two remixes of “Tribute”, staying true to his roots and delivering a soulful vibe with subtle Rhodes chords and synth flourishes, making for a rolling remix that will warm the dance floor. The EP closes out with “Jacidswing”, which sees Jimpster fusing a bubbling 303 bassline with swinging jazzy drums and synthy ambience to form something deep and slow-burning. With Tribute EP, Jimpster has once again demonstrated his ability to create a captivating musical journey that showcases his production prowess and love for house music. Available on vinyl, via Freerange Records.
