Our appreciation for Julien Dyne’s work goes back a decade, when we first got introduced to his sophomore album Glimpse. He’s a multi talented drummer, producer, DJ and visual artist that has recorded with many New Zealand top acts such as Fat Freddys Drop. Following his latest album, Teal, he presents Modes, that just came out via Soundway Records. In this record, Julien continues the forward thinking percussive jazz and afro-inspired house music soundscapes explored on Teal, which garnered acclaim from peers and fans alike.

His trademark slick production can be relied upon once more, as well as the music's insistent rhythmic drive and intensity. Modes exhales creativity at every moment, representing an amalgamation of influences that go from contemporary jazz to trip hop, neo soul and afro-beat. With an exquisite production work behind it, Dyne invites some of New Zealand's most well known and iconic vocalists, in addition to many new rising stars. Frequent collaborators Lord Echo, Ladi 6 and Mara TK (Electric Wire Hustle) return, alongside soul legends Dallas Tamaira aka Joe Dukie (Fat Freddys Drop), Che Fu and Troy King. Modes is available via bandcamp and vinyls will start shipping in February 2022.
