knowsum: cosmic breeze
Nelson Brandt is the real person behind the genius works by his aliases Knowsum and Nepumuk. He definitely has one of the most interesting discographies in European soil, approaching, blending, expanding on genres such as funk, hip hop, soul, boogie or jazz. All with a very evident psychedelic nod - dreamy and spacey, which might just reflect the current cultural movement of escapism that he translates into very good, timeless music. As per usual, his new work, Cosmic Breeeze, feels both new and reminiscing of a past that we can almost touch.
Drawing inspiration from the warmth of 70s funk grooves, the lush textures of dream-pop, and a dash of psychedelic nostalgia, Knowsum’s Cosmic Breeze creates a soundscape that really transcends time. His signature experimental flair is on full display, as he builds a sonic world that feels both familiar and futuristic. Joining Knowsum on this cosmic journey are a talented collective of collaborators, including Melissa Weikart, Magic Manfred, Zara2stra, Noamle, and Grégoire Pignède. Their contributions add unique layers to the album, further enriching this funky very introspective and very intergalactic exploration. Available on vinyl, courtesy of Sugar Brain Records, Cosmic Breeze is just what we need for yesterday, today and tomorrow. Another brilliant work from the German crooner of the 21st century Nelson Brandt.
