mark de clive-lowe: leaving this planet (2.0)
Originally released as a 5 track EP in early 2011, Mark de Clive-Lowe reissues Leaving this Planet as a full length compilation. Collaborations, one-offs, B-sides, remixes and other bonuses from the LA-based renowned producer. His work spanning throughout more than two decades has influenced many, pushing boundaries and mixing different genres with a special touch, only possible due to his magnanimous musical knowledge.
Leaving This Planet (2.0) mixes jazz, downtempo, broken-beat, afro-broken and more featuring three covers paying tribute to past legends - John Coltrane's timeless “Naima” with Bembe Segue on vocals; Gene Harris' “Koko and Lee Roe” - complete with vocal chorus of Tawiah, Bembe Segue, Ovasoul7 and Nia Andrews; and Charles Earland's “Leaving this Planet” - reworked with Sharlene Hector on microphone.
This collection of b-sides, re-works and collabs is an extension of that 2011 release and of Mark de Clive-Lowe’s prolific output in general. Meanwhile we await for the LP that is due to come out in early 2019, Leaving This Planet (2.0) is a piece that reminds us of some of the brilliant productions this influential artist has put out while we grew up.
