MENACE is a Paris & Tokyo based label and creative collective that has been releasing some prime quality on experimental hip hop, jazz and electronica. This compilation, celebrating the label’s fifth anniversary, showcases a talented cast of producers and artists - some of the we presented here before, others to take note and follow closely: Bugseed, DJ Mitsu The Beats, Hugo LX, Underground Canopy, Midori just to name a few.

Compiled by Midori, the label’s head, MENACE ‘5’ takes on the experiments of 14 artists that, in a way, seem like in perfect sync - the album has a sonic trademark, a consistent texture through all of its elements despite of the clear differences of genres it approaches. From Bugseed’s dreamy boom bap, to Charles Dollé’s R&B-ish moment, to Hugo LX’s deep house qualities. Available in vinyl, via MENACE Records.
