miguel nery: thru confinement
Miguel Nery is a young producer hailing from our hometown of Porto, that surprised us (via some friends recommendations) with a groovy-deep-house-music EP. Thru Confinement is a 4-tracker that was born in Barcelona and finalized in Portugal, and is a representation of mood swings lived during the past year and a half. With only 22 years old, Nery comes by with the desire of not only to follow the footsteps of those who came before him, but to trace his own way in the underground electronic music scene bubbling in the country.
Thru Confinement starts with bumpy, uplifting house vibes. In “Timeless Music” the keys and the vocal samples create the perfect scenario for the sway provoked by percussion and bass. The skies get dark as “Walls Compress Me” makes its way with progressive chords that deepen our feelings. “Ask Yourself” is a late-night affair with heavy textures for the club-heads, while “Back Home” blends laser-light-keys with jazzy bass chords, ending the trip with a sunrise peeping in. There’s no fillers in Thru Confinement. This self-released EP deserves your attention… Available via Bandcamp.
