If you follow this platform, you’ll know that we really (we mean, really) appreciate Retromigration’s music. Just in 2022 we featured him 3 different times and we had to consider giving this space to other underground talent. But his new EP, via Handy Records, is too good for us to not mention it. Following Versace Sheets EP, that was also curated by Handy, Also Durag EP comes with a very strong Retromigration’s scent. Silky smooth house vibes, as you can imagine.

Also Durag EP begins with a marvelous groove, blending intricate synth & sax riffs with perfectly timed vocal snippets to give a lush intro to the EP. The Earl Jeffers remix of the title-track adds a bit more beef to the situation, bringing chunky Omar S style kicks for a dubbed out chunkier rework of the original. Flipping the record we find “You & Dion” jacking the tempo up a notch and using arpeggiated bass-lines and classic Retromigration wind instrument sounds to amazing effect. Rounding the EP off, “Stop the Presses” is an absloute anthem! Ridiculous vocal work and smooth shuffled beats provide the perfect setting for an absolute summer slayer. Available on vinyl, we toast to Retromigration and his unbelievable output.
