rosie turton: rosie's 5ive
Jazz re:freshed is releasing its latest album on the 5ive EP series, this time focusing on the talent of London-based trombonist and producer Rosie Turton. After exploring the eclectic music scenes of London and New York to the Himalayas of India, the EP showcases her individual and unique voice as a performer. Rosie’s 5ive follows saxophonist Nubya Garcia and pianist Ashley Henry in the series.
Rosie Turton is another up and coming name on the UK jazz scene, currently expressing herself through a variety of different musical outlets, most notably composing and playing with septet Nérija. On this record she blends trombone, violin and electronics over a bed of convergent grooves and soundscapes. Its five tracks were recorded at Soup Studios in East London, with a band including Johanna Burnheart on violin, Maria Chiara Argirò on piano/wurlitzer, Twm Dylan on bass, Jake Long on drums, Ben Hayes on synthesisers , Luke Newman on vocals. Maxwell Owin co-produced it together with Turton. A true dream team of super talent on another fantastic project released by Jazz re:freshed. Available in vinyl, of course
