ruby rushton: eleven grapes
Dropping on March 1st, 22a presents a two-track 7" single from the Tenderlonious-led jazz quartet Ruby Rushton. Eleven Grapes is the prelude for the upcoming IRONSIDE, their 4th studio album and the collective’s most complete work to date, recorded at Abbey Road Studios.
Ruby Rushton have been at the forefront of the UK jazz scene since the release of their debut album Two For Joy in 2015, helping to kick down the door to the renaissance of the genre on contemporary listeners. After the 2017’s mass acclaim towards Trudi’s Songbook Volume One and Two they received regular airtime and support from DJ’s, tastemakers and radio stations across the world.
They continue to lead the way in 2019 with this new genre-defying record, as we wait patiently for IRONSIDE, due to drop in April. “Eleven Grapes” and “One Mo’ Dram” are rooted in the spiritual concepts of jazz heroes such as John Coltrane and Yusef Lateef, whilst adopting influences from hip hop, Afrobeat and the UK underground culture - available on a very limited vinyl edition.
