stro elliot: moods ep
At the end of the year o sótão recaps on some brilliant releases that for some reason escaped us at the time they dropped. One of them is the mesmerizing Stro Elliot’s Moods EP. After producing for Phonte and Eric Roberson, performing with the Wu-Tang Clan, and having his own Beats 1/Soulection, The Roots percussionist follows up his 2016 self-titled Street Corner Music debut with a new project featuring a variety of nuances.
From the downtempo flip of Bilal on “Hey Slim”, to the bang-your-fucking-head-off slaps of “FTL”. Tributes are paid to lost greats and classics of old are made new again. Marvin Gaye, Q-Tip, Coltrane among others. Pleasurable feelings throughout the seven tracks. A very limited vinyl edition is available, courtesy of Street Corner Music. Don’t sleep on Moods EP.
