the mole: the river widens
Francisco Espregueira
Originally released as a limited, cassette-only record via fellow Canadian Eddie C’s Red Motorbike, Circus Company drops The River Widens from The Mole for the first time on all formats. Comprised by 21 tracks, this is a opus that flows from ambient approaches, neck-snapping instrumental beats and more uptempo, highly-assured and hypnotic dance floor textures, blending moments of casual chillin are interspersed with effortless, emotive angles, some evoking the charm of his Little Sunshine release for us in 2017.
The River Widens is able to absorb us into the exploratory doctrines of The Mole - never shying away from synth deep dives, or raw sample flip collaging. It expands beautifully on the breadth of unique musical directions that the Canadian producer is capable of taking us in. Known for his love of sonic collage and musical noodling, The Mole boasts a long and colourful list of releases. Unafraid of experimenting with weirdness, he’s provides an escape from normality and cements his status with this project - now spread across fresh 2x12” vinyl and available digitally for the first time, courtesy of Circus Company.
