tour-maubourg: spaces of silence

See this content in the original post

Tour-Maubourg quickly became one of our favorite producers, since we came across his Duophenie EP on Salin Records. He is one of the most talented and acclaimed artists in France’s jazz-house and electronica scenes, having earned comparisons to St. Germain’s work after his debut album Paradis Artificiels. Spaces of Silence is his latest project, dropping next friday via the one and only Pont Neuf Records. Comprised by 14 tracks, the album deepens Tour-Maubourg relationship with analogue instrumentation and represents a tribute to his home country of Belgium and embodies a year long journey into deep, musical solitude.

Spaces of Silence, as the name indicates, echoes the tinnitus that the producer has had permanently since 2018, finding in silence the cure and the state of mind to create this work. Blending different textures, but connected with his musicality, Tour-Maubourg presents balance and awareness in sound, evoking the paradox between noise and silence, tape, cassette, background noise and field recordings. Having composed Spaces of Silence in Brussels, at a home studio set up in his grandparents’ place, he returned to his personal roots. The years of experience contribute to look at those from different angles and, while the 14 tracks play, we feel this is as a very mature take on electronic jazz, atmospheric textures and ocean-deep grooves. Available on vinyl, for the collectors.
