underground canopy: séquences
Following up on the acclaimed Bluestaeb & S. Fidelity Present Underground Canopy (2020), the Parisian band took some time off, mainly due to the unforeseen period of doubt in 2020/21 that may have taken their chance of presenting that mesmerizing work live. Now the Underground Canopy collective partners again with MENACE to release a new set of compositions with a fresh approach. Séquences experiments with even more refined musical codes and colorful sounds that involve us with warmth and groove.
With Raphaël Henry (drums) and Christopher Johnson (electric guitar) joining the roster, Underground Canopy was able to record and film a live rendition of four original pieces at the end of 2020, thanks to an invitation by the Centre des Arts d’Enghien-les-Bains’s artistic program and SENSE. These music videos, each filmed in one shot by Romain Lalire, capture UC’s musical digressions away from their mainly hip-hop and groove-infused jams and into new territory. The resulting new EP celebrates cinematic aesthetics and the suspension of time, standing as an audiovisual testimonial to the band’s continued progression. Séquences, as expected for the ones who know UC’s previous works, is full of musicality, cementing the collective as one of the most interesting live acts in Europe.
