#200
Francisco Espregueira
For more than five years o sótão has been a secret platform dealing some of the highest karat underground music released by independent artists and labels. It focuses on music made by people that understand it or play it on a superior level.
o sótão's #200 playlist, as the #100, showcases the main influences guiding us through our daily search. More than just showing new releases, as we usually do, the #200 pays homage to some of the main names of the music we’re currently diving in. More than just a playlist, the #200 is a note traversing time towards the future. We will look back and understand the roads we’re crossing.
From the vibrant UK jazz scene, influencing and reaching other points of the globe, other ways of making music; through the Amazonian forest that is the broken beat scene right now, full of diversity; through soulful approaches to hip hop music, blending individual experiences; through the deep electronic moments of contemplation, at home, on the dancefloor, alongside heroes and heroes-to-be; and back to jazz again. Two hundred tracks, and we’re always coming back to jazz. Again and again.
This is o sotão. Here, at night, with a cigarette, a glass of wine... it usually goes like this. Love y’all, this was not on spotify:
