aurora dee raynes: ribbon of hot plasma ep
Francisco Espregueira
North London-based Aurora Dee Raynes has released their latest EP, Ribbon Of Hot Plasma, under Tru Thoughts. This comes after their debut album, Invisible Things, and remixes from El-B and Shy One. The EP comprises four tracks and instrumental versions that embody the band's ethos, which is honest lyrics and truly collaborative production. Getting their name from the Northern Lights, the band looked to the skies once again to help them name this record - stumbling upon a mysterious aurora borealis.
Ribbon Of Hot Plasma carries a sultry groove, while the lyrics are an invitation to let feelings inside and reflect on them. From the youthful joy of “Underwater Shapeshifter” and the sensual and vulnerable backdrop of “Reading Fiction”, passing by the gentle vocals and funky grooves of “Something Sensible”, ending on the energetic and sonically diverse “Maths”. Aurora Dee Raynes bring their very own ideas of musical compositionto create an EP that carries the listener through smooth musical waters. Available on Bandcamp.
