bardino: memória da pedra mãe
Francisco Espregueira
Porto-based trio Bardino present an unique blend of electronica, rock, and jazz, set to release their highly anticipated new album, Memória da Pedra Mãe, on March 15th, 2024, via Jazzego Records. The album title references a rare geological phenomenon known as "breeder stones," and the music itself explores themes of collective memory, the tension between past, present, and future, and the ongoing evolution of communities.
Recorded in Port, at Arda Records studios, and featuring guest appearances from saxophonist Brian Blaker, guitarist Leonardo Outeiro, and label mates Minus & MRDolly and AZAR AZAR, Memória da Pedra Mãe is a sympnic journey through dense, cinematic soundscapes. With João Brandão, one of Portugal's most respected producers, at the helm, the album showcases Bardino's honed vision and refined sound, while also incorporating h subtle nods to traditional Portuguese music. This is music that thrives on embracing the past, forging a path in the present, and boldly venturing into the future. Bardino is composed by the talent of Diogo Silva (drums), Nuno Fulgêncio (bass) and Rui Martins (keyboards & production), and Memória da Pedra Mãe will soon be available on vinyl.
