black jazz consortium: evolution of light
Francisco Espregueira
Fred Peterkin, a.k.a. Fred P, a.k.a. Black Jazz Consortium has been the responsible for innumerable essential releases on the electronic scene, and decades of DJ’ing, mostly between the hubs of New York and Berlin. Evolution Of Light is the third release on his own new imprint, Perpetual Sound, and is a “direct response” to the American’s first album as Black Jazz Consortium, dated of 2007. Working with a range of collaborators, aiming to broaden the scope of the Consortium project in terms of the music, ideas, and sound, we find Peterkin interpreting Latin and Brazilian music through his own unique lens.
Continuing his fascinating musical journey, this 12 track record is a further development on Peterkin’s deeply enchanting style, featuring Brazilian musicians, South American rhythms, lilting percussion, and sun-kissed moods. Deep as always, Black Jazz Consortium’s Evolution Of Light was released back in November, but couldn’t be out of our 2020 selection. Available on vinyl, courtesy of Perpetual Sound.
