The collaboration between Brijean Murphy (of Toro Y Moi and Poolside) and Doug Stuart results in an outstanding LP entitled Feelings, that will drop tomorrow via Ghostly International. Following their first sessions, which resulted in the mini-album Walkie Talkie (released in 2019 on Native Cat Recordings), the duo continued creating without restrictions, planting the seeds for the upcoming album - further delving into their unique recipe of dreamy, back-room disco sounds; and elegant approaches with a rhythmic and harmonic palette that evokes ‘70s disco, ‘90s house, and sly pop sensibilities.
Compared Walkie Talkie, Feelings is more expansive and energetic, with Brijean’s signature sound elevating through the addition of live elements in the carefully delivered productions. Murphy performs at her best, showcasing her talents as a percussionist, as a songwriter and singer. Together with Doug Stuart, she creates a gentle environment for self-reflection, for self-care, for uninhibited imagination and for new possibilities. There is a specific vibration and softness here that Murphy and Stuart call “romancing the psyche”. We couldn't agree more. Feelings drops tomorrow and vinyl copies are available.
