cc:disco!: first light (volume II)

Francisco Espregueira

CC:DISCO’s second First Light compilation is an impressive body of work, introducing 24 (!) exclusive tracks that, together, provides us with hours of eclecticism, exploring the scopes of jazz, balearic, disco, house, trance and techno. Having worked in radio since the age of 15, First Light (Volume II) project comes natural to CC:DISCO!, affirming her status as a a dedicated tastemaker - with an irreversible love for the underground scene. Zeitgeist Freedom Energy Exchange, Manuel Darquart, Jenifa Mayanja, Hidden Speheres and Pépe are just some of our favorite acts here included. But there’s so much more in this…

Since relocating to Lisbon in 2019, CC:DISCO! has been holding down a residency at Rinse FM, which might be one of the best stations to inhale and exhale all of this magnificent music. Sonically, the journey of the full compilation opens with soothing melodic jazzy tones, leading onto disco and electronica and finishing with the heavier high-octane productions.

The compilation draws on artists and friends that she’s encountered through her journey as a radio presenter and touring DJ, playing important festivals. Via Soothsayer, CC:DISCO! features an important collection of music from acts that hail from all parts of the world - inspiring her in some way on her journey. First Light (Volume II) is available in digital formats and on vinyl. Also, don’t sleep on First Light (Volume I) - filled with contemporary high-karat underground music.

With Vol II I really wanted to capture my overall sound and bring artists together from around the world. It’s definitely a body of work you should listen to from start to finish, it’s a natural progression.
