claude young: the knife ep
Francisco Espregueira
We stay in Detroit to feature the last record from the techno veteran Claude Young. He pairs up with Kai Alcé’s legendary NDATL Muzik imprint and presents The Knife EP - the first time Young has been in the studio for six years, marking a departure from his previous works. Instead he delves into the more deeper shades of hi-tech soul on this one, delivering heavy-groove, soulful and emotive music.
The Knife waits no time and cuts right in with the 12"s title track. It's big stabs, deep bass shuffling beats show that Claude Young is in top form. "No Regrets'" sublime and ethereal strings and chords exemplify Young’s uniqueness. “Santa Barbara” makes is a perfect tackle on the warm-up slots, with its a sensual vocals and velvety chords, followed by the late night jazz bar loops of “The Promenade”. This is another exciting release hailing from the always reliable NDATL Muzik catalog. Available on vinyl.
