daniel maunick: a vicious circle
Francisco Espregueira
Having produced records for legendary names like Azymuth, Marcos Valle, Terry Callier, Incognito, and most recently Ivan 'Mamão' Conti's Poison Fruit, Daniel Maunick steps forward with his debut dance release under the high-karat-gold seal of Far Out Recordings: A Vicious Circle.
Over the years Daniel Maunick has retained a mysterious reputation without much attention from the public, and that stands out, somehow, from this record. There is an unconventional quality, a trademark characteristic that we relate to the records he produced before. Finally we can have a clearer picture on the name responsible for it. Composed by three original tracks, A Vicious Circle is deeply connected to ecstatic dancefloor feelings. It features the dusty disco-funk stomper “The Morning After", stripped-back melodic broken-beat monster “A Vicious Circle”, and sleek slap-bass stepper “One Nite Stand”. A statement prelude to things to come from this elusive studio stalwart.
This is a vinyl only release, limited to 300 hand-numbered copies at selected stores such as HHV. It is, already, a rare record with supreme quality.
