eabs featuring tenderlonious: kraksa / svantetic
Francisco Espregueira
The mighty 22a label presents a collaborative project between the Polish jazz septet EABS and Tenderlonious. The Electro Acoustic Beat Sessions collective (EABS) are, without doubt, one of the most accomplished modern jazz groups at the moment. Ed 'Tenderlonious' Cawthorne, on the other hand, is a multifaceted and virtuous instrumentalist with endless melodic tricks up his sleeves.
EABS have an unique and innovative approach to music, fusing elements of Polish & classic jazz with hip hop, funk or folk. Their debut album Repetitions (Letters To Krzysztof Komeda), is dedicated to Polish Jazz legend Krzysztof Komeda and focuses on compositions by Komeda between ‘62 and ’67. Kraksa/Svantetic is the final part of that tribute, recorded straight to tape at Radio Opole in Poland, featuring Tenderlonious on flute and soprano saxophone.
This two track EP is, maybe, the ritual of passage for future endeavours from both EABS and Tederlonious: Kraksa/Svantetic are the first new tracks from Tenderlonious, following his highly acclaimed album The Shakedown released in June; at the same time, is the epilogue of EABS’s 2017 album, Repetitions (Letters To Krzysztof Komeda), which was released in a live ambient during this year.
Limited to 1000 copies worldwide, Kraksa/Svantetic, is a special first-take record released with the quality stamp of 22a. For jazz aficionados.
