felipe gordon: júpiter ep
Francisco Espregueira
Last friday we saw Colombian master Felipe Gordon dropping two unbelievable new EP’s: For A Bright And Acid Future, which dropped via Local Talk, is a three track project with a lot of acid jazz textures, created to put people bouncing; Júpiter EP, through Lost Palms/Shall Not Fade, blends a wealth of influences, with five songs blossoming from roots in funk, soul and house music. While both deserve full attention we focus on the latter, which represents a more complete project from the Bogotá-based producer.
Varying from slick lounge house moments, with woozy piano house cut, to heavier production choices, bringing together acid lines, thick kicks interspersed with chords and disorientating vocals, Júpiter EP transports us to the wonderful creative world of Felipe Gordon. One in which every twist, every turn, is unique and surprising. Available on vinyl, for house collectors.
