Footshooter gives continuity to his critically acclaimed string of releases, presenting his latest work, Southside Hymns, via Astral Black Records. Well deep into London’s night culture, this is Barney Whittaker’s (Footshooter) tribute to his community, delving into more introspective and darker sounds. Composed by nine tracks, this is another great work from the british producer/DJ, celebrating the attractive decadence of the club culture.
Southside Hymns blends ingredients that traverse Footshooter’s discography. Deep textures, broken beat percussions, nu-jazz spirit and urban paces. Through enlisting a guest cast including the likes of vocalists MA.MOYO, Natty Wylah & Albertina, guest instrumentalists and long-term collaborators Wilf Petherbridge, Isobel Risk, Ebyan Rezguli & James Mollison, as well as artwork by Illustrator & NTS resident Anu Ambasna - Footshooter has ensured that Southside Hymns at once embodies the contemporary London music community that it is also a dedication to.
