greg foat: symphonie pacifique
Francisco Espregueira
Expansive and widescreen. Symphonie Pacifique, by Greg Foat, is a cinematic piece made of haunting compositions, soul-jazz fusions and electronic soundscapes. Following an acclaimed series of albums on Jazzman and Athens Of The North, Foat leads the way to present an involving and warm 16-track LP, result of international collaborations that connected London, where Foat recorded analogue and produced the album, to Edinburgh and Gothenburg.
Dropping tomorrow, through Strut Records, Symphonie Pacifique includes signature sounds from Foat’s previous works, building a lush soundscape using choral textures, harp and tubular bells. It also features different tempos, moods… filling with a diversity of colors the time we took to appreciate it. Available in CD, vinyl and digital, this piece marks another major step forward in Foat’s evolution as one of the UK’s leading jazz pianists and composers.
