greg ward presents rogue parade: stomping off from greenwood
Francisco Espregueira
Considered one of the most versatile saxophonists of his generation, Greg Ward launches his new group Rogue Parade with the release of his latest album, Stomping Off From Greenwood, featuring a quintet of heavyweight creative Chicago musicians: Matt Gold and Dave Miller (guitar & effects), Matt Ulery (bass), and Quin Kirchner (drums). The new project highlights Ward’s skills as a writer and arranger with a set of eight new compositions (and a version of the standard “Stardust”) that explore this unique two-guitar instrumentation, which blends the acoustic and electronic sonic worlds.
After a month-long residency in Chicago - currently living a strong jazz movement - followed by extensive touring in the Midwest, the ensemble moved into the studio to capture the band’s energy on record. The LP explores the fervor of Chicago’s top-tier performers, with Greg Ward leading on his saxophone. The musicianship on this one is, in fact, extremely high. Stomping Off From Greenwood can be purchased in CD and digital formats.
