guilherme coutinho e o grupo stalo
Francisco Espregueira
Guilherme Coutinho started playing at the age of five and soon became a group leader, playing in several nightclubs in Belém do Pará, in the mysterous north of Brazil, until he settled in the Paraense Assembly, where he lived for more than 15 years. This unknown golden performer sees one of his three albums reissued by Lisbon-based Mad About Records: Guilherme Coutinho e O Grupo Stalo.
Dying of a heart attack in 1983, who knows what contribution Guilherme Coutinho might have given to the fantastic Brazilian musical heritage. This album sees Coutinho’s muscal performance and direction at its best. Through eight tracks we dive into a world of influences: Brazilian Popular Music (MPB), North American ‘70’s jazz and a North-Brazilian DNA. Invaluable reissue by Mad About Records, available on vinyl: Guilherme Coutinho e O Grupo Stalo.
