Hailing from the capital of Lebanon, Metro Beirut is a nascent record label focusing on producing all that is disco, funk, house, and lo-fi. Their promising output was somehow interrupted by the huge crisis that engulfed the country in the past years, expanded by the horrible explosion that destroyed parts of the beautiful city of Beirut. The label’s return to records couldn’t be more exciting.
Produced by the talented German/Dutch duo, Horsemen, MBR002 honors the sound of the underground, with a beautifully crafted 90s-influenced EP. Filled with moments of absolute class, we bounce non stop to the grooves of this record. Hypnotic bass lines in “One Mile High”, emotional homages in “Coast To Coast”, and movie-like feelings in “Cancelled Flight”, which is later remixed by Snad. High-karat-gold level of productions. Newly released and available on Bandcamp, MBR002 is already one of our fav records from this year.
