javonntte: mr. machine
Francisco Espregueira
One of Detroit’s finest, Javonntte has remained elusive over his long-standing magnificent career that goes back until the early 1990s. His love for the craft, deep knowledge on black underground music and work ethics make him one of the most prolific producers of our time (if you follow him on soundcloud you’ll see how the man never stops). Dropping today, Mr. Machine, marks his return to the Coloring Lessons imprint with five original house tracks and a bonus remix from Brooklyn’s Toribio.
Javonntte takes us for a ride into real deep house vibes on this one. Mr. Machine opens up with one of the tracks of 2022. “House Grammy”, produced in collaboration with label heads musclecars, touches deep within and is an emotional moment of the highest order. The EP delves into a myriad of afro-american rhythms, so connected with Javonntte’s diverse output. It’s a soulful, hard-hitting, groove-drive, instinctive record capable of surprising us with anthologic moments like the ones provided by “Get It Up” or “Matheny May”. Available on vinyl, we want to listen to this all over again tonight in a real and vibrant dancefloor.
