jimpster: birdhouse
Francisco Espregueira
Birdhouse is Jimpster’s lockdown album, representing his seventh full lenght record and marking a change in his repertoire, as he takes a step away from the dance floor to revisit his early inspirations of jazz, 70’s fusion, library music, ambient and sample-based downtempo electronica. As always, Jimpster showcases a deep knowledge on what he’s doing, delivering an album that fills us.
Birdhouse is a soulful, trippy, slow motion record that counts with vocal and live musician features, like Oliver Night, Capitol A or Cairo. They contribute to Jimpster’s trademark warm productions into a project that reminds us of the trip-hop movement from the late 90’s and beginning of 00’s, but with a futuristic twist. This may be Jimpster’s most accomplished and accessible work yet, but one thing we’re sure - Birdhouse is another demonstration of the his capacities of delivering refreshing new music and textures. Available on vinyl, via Freerange Records.
