kaidi tatham: in my life
Francisco Espregueira
There’s always an unmistakable texture of funk, boogie, soul and jazz in Kaidi Tatham’s sound. His latest EP, In My Life, that follows the LP It’s A World Before You released this year, shows him dominating his keys and his drum-cut-drum trademark progression. The tempos change naturally with absolutely no effort as Tatham rises our spirits. Effortless playing, effortless appreciation.
Best known for his work with Bugz In The Attic and from magnificent collaborations with Dego, Kaidi Tatham has quietly contributed to a wealth of music over the last twenty years, working with everyone from Amy Winehouse to Slum Village or Amp Fiddler. We’ve been exploring his late works, going further deep into more than two decades of broken-beat infused rhythms, from this legendary producer. In My Life, his latest EP (released by 2000black), entices that exploration. And it’s not late to get to know in detail the work of one of the UK’s dancefloor masters.
