last nubian: we celebrate us
Francisco Espregueira
Last Nubian's new record on Eglo Records, titled We Celebrate Us, is a soulful and jazzy exploration of London's rich musical heritage. Following up on tasty releases on Touching Bass, WOOP, Nomada and more, this is his most complete work to date, paying homage to the city's diverse cultural influences, drawing inspiration from Jamaican soundsystem culture, broken beat, and soulful house.
The EP features a talented cast of collaborators, including Queen Sherine and Akeem, who add their flavors to this wonderful work (watch out to that interlude, it’s on). As per usual in his discography tracks like "Black," "Desolate Place," and "Intertwined Cultures," Last Nubian showcases his ability to blend genres and create a truly unique sound that is more inspired in vibes, surroundings, flows than genres itself. We Celebrate Us is a celebration of London's music scene a must-listen for fans of soulful, jazz-infused electronic music. Available on vinyl.
