Following up on the acclaimed Couldn’t Wait To Tell You…, LA-based, Dallas-raised artist (Liv).e, announces her sophomore album Girl In The Half Pearl via In Real Life Music. The 25 year old artist first garnered attention with her 2017 EP, FRANK, and 2018's Hoopdreams EP., and is cementing her status as one of the rising stars of the contemporary soul scene in the US. Composed by 17 tracks, Girl In The Half Pearl seizes on both the creative and personal liberation (Liv).e has experienced in the time since her 2020 debut album, documenting self-examination, as she works through realizations prompted by grief and grapples with the dynamics of her role in the relationships in her life.
Girl In The Half Pearl is an opus that reflect growth, forgiveness and reclamation of her sense of womanhood across an immersive soundscape. That soundscape grabs influences from drum&bass, 90’s neo soul and r&b and futuristic nostalgia. The album's artistic shifts developed during her time experimenting with live performance in London earlier this year while under residency at Laylow. Unconventional and touching, which are two of (Liv).e’s signatures over her young, but impressive, discography, she delivers an album that is a delight to explore. Available on vinyl.
