mark de clive-lowe: heritage
Francisco Espregueira
Heritage is a deep and personal exploration of Mark de Clive-Lowe’s Japanese roots translated in a 7 track-project - the first installment of the new two-album series from pianist, composer and live remixer. This is, by far, his most personal work yet - deep diving into his Japanese ancestry and cultural roots through the lens of jazz, electronica and beats in collaboration with his LA band of world-class musicians.
Mark de Clive-Lowe pieces on Heritage are completely new, deeply inspired by childhood folk stories, Japanese mythology and his own personal experiences in the country. Reading the album notes, as it plays scenically, we learn specific stories and intentions behind every track - a complete narrative to the album. As a brilliant instrumentalist and composer, we’ve became used to Mark de Clive-Lowe’s talent over the last decade. Heritage is, although, the album in which he transcends himself, taking his art to a different stage.
Recorded live during the summer of 2018, in LA, the album is a transmission from the past to the future. A legacy. The artist’s heritage. Available worldwide, Heritage is a piece of collection that can be heard again and again through the years.
