move 78: grains

Move 78, a Berlin-based band delivering a high-karat-gold captivating fusion of free-flowing, improvised jazz and automated hip hop, just released their third studio album, Grains, via Village Live Records. Their new record follows The Algorithm Smiles Upon You (2021) and Automated Improvisation (2022), and offers a unique soundscape, where their signature style comes to life through eight tracks of remarkable artistry.
Grains began taking form during jam sessions at Trixx studios (Berlin) in October 2021, where the initial ideas were conceived. Over the course of 18 months, these raw compositions were expertly chopped up, rearranged, and remixed, seamlessly blending with an array of home recordings. The result is a 32-minute musical odyssey that represents the evolution of Move 78's combination of improvised jazz and instrumental hip hop. A sonically diverse and compelling experience that stands as a testament to the innovative potential of the cross-genre fusion the band takes on. Available on vinyl, courtesy of Village Live, this one is for aficionados of jazz, hip hop, and those who revel in boundary-pushing musical landscapes.
