nat home: average stardawg ep
Francisco Espregueira
Following up on Pinty’s decisive release just a week before, Winged Feet presents another high-karat-gold musical project introducing us to UK producer Nat Home. And Average Stardawg EP is a great introduction. The 4-track EP sits between a kind of underground r&b from the US with stripped down deep house productions, conveying a very unique kind of groove that just convinces us from the first moment we press play.
Average Stardawg opens up with “Witching Hour” and unveils Nat’s tendencies for classic deep house sonic textures, so well enveloped by his approach and Ms Ray vocals. Connecting to this one, but on a different note and mood, “Joyrider” channels classic dusky Detroit house music with Nat’s own vocals front and centre. Slow jams “Landslide” and “Yet 2 fade” showcase nocturnal electronics and left-field R&B. “Yet 2 fade”, co-produced by Jamie Isaac is a dreamy lullaby and the most personal track on the EP, delving deeper into the Nat's day to day and gives us an insight in to his outlook on the contrary forces of love and addiction. Available on a limited white label vinyl, don’t sleep on news like this.
