oliver night: make believe
Francisco Espregueira
Born and raised in North London, DJ/producer/singer Oliver Night presents a new 4-track EP through one of the best houses of electronic and broken beat music in the UK: CoOp. The label’s step into 2019 follows the brilliant releases from Neue Grafik and Selectors Assemble, with more vibrant music to fill the best dancefloors out there.
Oliver Night established himself as a DJ some 15 years ago, and has since played across London. Make Believe illustrates Oliver's diverse range of influences, sonically indebted to London's broken beat movement. Grounded in reggae and dub production sensibilities, whilst built solidly for the bruk and house music dances of today.
Make Believe contains in just 4 tracks, future anthems, instrumental jazz-house affairs and smooth dance rhythms, featuring the voice of BB.James, the trumpet of Jay Phelps, remixes by the Selectors Assemble crew (Cengiz & IG Culture) and NameBrandSound - delivering more of their signature bassweight business. Oliver unleashes his own vocal talent on “U Got To”, demonstrating a rich, soulful quality to his voice, completing a truly heavyweight debut for CoOp. Make Believe is a huge record, and certainly a piece of collection for the bruk cats that roam the nights in search of great moments.
