opolopo: you can make it
Francisco Espregueira
Returning for a Local Talk release - after dropping The Grit back in 2011 - worldwide known producer and DJ Opolopo (a.k.a. Peter Major) drops You Can Make It. With his music spanning over two decades touching on funk, boogie and soul to various shades of house, and innumerable/invaluable collaborations and remixes, this 4-track project was promising since the release of the title-track alongside the soulful vocals of Pete Simpson.
Starting with one of those timeless house tunes, immaculately produced, You Can Make It carries on to the B-Side with two versions of “Lamprey Love”, a track with expansive warmth and jammed-out riffs, indebted to the work of giants such as Larry Heard or Chez Damier. On this smooth release Opolopo has done what he does best, offering the highest standards of house music. Available on a limited vinyl edition, courtesy of Local Talk.
