pachakuti & young.vishnu: dédalo
Francisco Espregueira
Two years ago we were introduced to Pachakuti & young.vishnu’s essential Semilla LP. Released once again by Melting Pot Music, Dédalo is their second album and in it we see the german jazz/beat duo taking their joint project to new heights. Together they develop mesmerizing organic textures of instrumental hip hop and orchestral jazz and groove, into an an excitingly eclectic blend of world music traditions. Their music shows an interest in in eastern philosophy, botany and all the sounds that influence and are shared by these two musical freethinkers.
Dédalo showcases the duo’s resourcefulness and growth. While their debut work centered around the image of the seed, the sophomore takes on the entire garden. Besides playing multiple instruments by themselves, Pachakuti & young.vishnu invited a growing group of befriended musicians into the studio, adding pure organic sonic waves into a 16-track record that takes us on an emotionally honest, metaphoric journey through the maze of human existence, of modern society and mythic poetry. Although mostly instrumental, the album builds on expressive melodies, layered rhythms, and a wide range of musical instruments, merging the sounds of jazz with the classical word of orchestras and choirs. Available on vinyl, Dédalo is an opus to cultural appreciation and global conscience of different ways of creating art.
