pat kalla & le super mojo: hymne à la vie
Francisco Espregueira
Hymne à la Vie is the new album from french-cameroonian singer, composer and MC Pat Kalla, again creating sunny music via Heavenly Sweetness. This project is not only an ‘anthem to life’, present in the colorful arrangements of each music. It’s also the confirmation of Pat’s evolution as a musician and of the magic of his band, Le Super Mojo, that, with the important collaboration of people like DjeuhDoah, David Walters and of DJ/producer Guts, provide an intense light over the main character. Pat Kalla continues his career, spanning over two decades, creating a kind of music that is an answer to his African heritage, reinventing it.
Through 14 tracks, Pat & Le Super Mojo present us an unique blend of african grooves, cameroonian poetry and ‘chanson française’, admitting on board of their boat pan-african influences that go from Manu Dibango to Georges Moustaki. Like his previous works, Hymne à la Vie is a project in which Pat Kalla showcases eclecticism. Culturally rich, carries generous doses of positivism, specially evident in the light picking of guitars, in the punctuated energy of the drums and in basslines that invite us to move. Dropping next friday, Hymne à la Vie will be available on vinyl. It’s an unmissable album for the genre’s aficionados.
